After a run of more than 60 years, the Land Rover Defender finally stopped production on 29 January 2016, which makes this example one of the last.
The Land Rover Defender is a car that has evolved over its lifetime, although it sticks closely to the formula of the 1940s original and is thoroughly utilitarian when compared to other versions of the current Land Rover line-up.
That old-school philosophy means it's pretty archaic inside and is a bit noisier and slightly more unconventional to drive, but if you're thinking of buying a Defender, you'll probably be happy to overlook its shortcomings and revel in its sheer character.
Our car looks the part finished in Midnight Black Metallic with a complimenting Dark Grey Upholstery, it also benefits by having 4 additional seats in the rear compartment, making it truly useable on a day to day basis.
It has covered only 37,800 Miles from new through just 2 Previous Keepers and comes with Service History.
Power comes courtesy of the proven Ford 2.2 Litre, Turbo Diesel engine mated to the 6 Speed Manual Transmission which in standard guise produces 122 BHP and 360 Nm of Torque. Ours has been upgraded with a Stage 2 ECU and as such makes this Defender a little bit more lively.
Other upgrades include LED Headlights & External Sidelights, KBX Style Trim & Grille Set, Performance Intercooler, Silicone Intercooler Hoses, 'Fire & Ice' Style Steps, Parrot Hands Free System and the aforementioned 4 New ( in July 2019 ) Inward Facing Rear Seats with Lap Belts.
This Land Rover is unbelievably capable off-road. It has an incredibly solid chassis, high ground clearance, amazing axle articulation and four-wheel drive with low range gearing. This means it can cope with almost anything the elements throw at it.
No modern car has been capable of emulating the Defender's off-road prowess, which makes it all but unstoppable when the going got tough.
